Lossy versus lossless

Lossy methods are used for compressing sounds, images, or videos. Lossy methods can produce a much smaller compressed file, while still meeting the requirements of the application.

Lossless methods allow the exact original data to be reconstructed from the compressed data.

Vector vs. Pixel: Pixel based images are those constructed of pixels and are resolution dependent. Vector based images are defined by mathematical equations and are resolution dependent.

6 Major Graphic File Types

JPEG: Commonly used method of compression for photographic images. Most commonly used by digital cameras. Best use for photographs and paintings of realistic scenes with smooth variations of tone and color. NOT well suited for line drawings and other textual or iconic graphics, where the sharp contrasts between adjacent pixels cause noticeable artifacts.

GIF: Graphics Interchange Format- The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel, allowing a single image to reference a palette of up to 256 distinct colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame. GIFs are suitable for sharp-edged line art (such as logos) with a limited number of colors. GIFs can also be used to store low-color sprite data for games. GIFs can be used for small animations and low-resolution film clips.

TIFF- it can be a container holding lossy and lossless compresses images.

BITMAP- meaning just a map of bits type of memory organization or image file format used to store digital images

RAW- Not yet ready or processed to be used with a BITMAP graphics editor.

PNG- Created to improve and replace GIF, good for Internet and professional use.

-What type of lines of symmetry did you use (horizontal, vertical, diagonal)

I used diagonal lines for my blog.

- What type of color scheme did you choose for your template? For example, are they complementary colors or analogous based on the color wheel?

I used the analogous based on the color wheel. It said that purple and yellow go well together, so I decided for a purple gradient background and yellow flowers.

- Are there parts of your template that show movement? If so, how?

Nothing really shows movement, but my swirls look like they are moving.

- How did you use color? (there were 5 ways from your notes that are possibilities)

I used the color to separate my writing box from my background. I also used color to decorate and bring out colors.

- Is there a use of texture? Explain.

I changed the opacity of some of the layers, so that the texture looks smoother

- How did you use balance? (whitespace vs filled space; textures vs flat colors; text vs images)

I used texture vs. colors buy using around five colors, three of which are purple or different shades of purple, yellow, and black.

- How is unity used used in your template?

I looked at the color wheel, and determined which colors would go good together. As well I picked shapes that would go good together.

Never Seek Revenge

You should never seek revenge because you only get hit back again. I hit myself in the eye with a nerf dart that has a thick rubber band on the end on wednesday. I didn't end up going to the eye doctor until today and the dr says that I hit and cut a blood vessel in my eye, therefore there is a pool of blood sitting on the bottom of my eye, which apparently bad. So I turned in my prescription to shopco and got these two eye drops that i have to take every two hours....for the next week....FUN...

FANTASTIC DAY, going on to a great weekend!

So today I go to get my A.S.B and the lady tells me I've got a fine, which I knew about, but she told me to go double check with my old teacher to see if he found the book. So I go back to my teacher and ask him if he found the book, and he checks my book number and writes on a peice of paper, and when he gives it back to me it said, "Kat's book #308 was returned, NO FINE" and signed it! And I am pretty sure it was not returned but he said since they don't use those books anymore that he would just wave my fine!!!! So i waved goodbye to my fine, and now I only owe like 12$. Pretty happy day, and i only have math homework, which will hopefully be easy, I am going to the game tonight, and tomorrow I am hanging out with my B.A.K.E girls!!!! SHould be a fun filled weekend!!!!!!!

R-E-S-P-E-C-T

As much as I love passing periods between classes, I very much dislike when students who have GIGANTOR backpacks run into me or hit me.....Also I can't stand when freshmen, or any kids, walk up the stairs and stop at the very top to talk to their "friends". Really if you have the need to talk to a friend, I am sure they would understand if you go to some lockers or somthing...but I am having a great day today! Tonight is youth group at my church and it's always fun there! So you should come if you want at South Hills Church! Hope to see you there!!!

Today has gone very well. I have finished all my homework, and I had a great lunch. Although I am slightly tired, and when I get home I have to clean and do some laundry. But other than that it's been a dandy day. I also talked to my grandma this morning which was really good. And today I am going to call my mom, cause it's tuesday and I call her every tuesday, or at least I try to!

Finally here, not like this school week was bad. Didn't have much homework, and all I have today is fiber arts stuff and math! So it's all good. Can't wait to see and hang out with friends today!!! Should be some fun stuff. But I am not really a planner, I mostly go with the moment kinda thing. Not feeling like I have much else to say for now so BYE

Great Day!

Today has been a great day. Not alot of homework, only in math and english, and tonight I am going to help out with my churches middle school youth group! I am a leader for the eigth grade girls with my friend Hillary, and it's always fun and exciting to see them and hear what they have to say! Also that means tomorrow is friday! Which my friend Katy is getting married! So I am pretty sure I might be going to her wedding! And then hanging out with my friend Holli! ALMOST THE WEEKEND! Pretty happy!

Today is a pretty casual day. I am tired though and I have a headache. Also I have some homework to do, and my mouth is aching. I really want to eat something really good like chicken strips, but my mouth won't let me, unless I cut it up to like 100 peices. Mainly what I have been eating this past two weeks is ramen noodles, which arn't bad, but they get kinda old after the 20th time. I am really looking forward to this weekend. It seems like it's almost over, and not much really to do in classes this week. Seems pretty easy to me. This weekend I am going to hang out with my friend Holli after she gets done at work, and although I do not know what we will be doing, it's always fun to hang out with her. And then Saturday I am going to my cousin's house to celebrate her son's 2nd birthday. Which should be fun, because she is very nice and I love going out to her house since she lives on a farm. Sometime after that hopefully around six o'clock I am going to hang out with my friends Bre, Ash, and Emily. And we are going to have our bake night. But I don't know if were actually going to bake anything, maybe just some brownies and just play random silly games, and go to the park or somthing. We kind of do things spur of the moment, not really for planning most times.

So yesterday I thought that the nickname that Miss Mcinturff gave me was grooming, and it actually was roomie. So I think that this nickname stands for maybe when she was in college, that she must have had some roomate named Kat or Cat some similiarity and I think that my name reminded her of somone in her past.

Some Questions....

In our Multimedia design class our teacher Miss Mcinturff gave us each our own individual nicknames. My nickname is Grooming. I think that she gave me this nickname because I go by Kat and that can be related to grooming, because you can take your animal in to the groomer's, such as a cat.

We are taking the multimedia design class and I think it is a class based on making web pages and advertisements, and learning on how to work in the web. I hope to learn on how to be better at making a web page, and become better at it.
